Christmas shoeboxes

Posted Dec 11, 10:28

On behalf on Janet Kinnear and Helen Bethune, thank you all for bringing in a total of 195 Christmas shoeboxes for the Samaritan’s Purse appeal. This has obviously really captured your imagination. As well as all the boxes from our congregation, we had boxes handed in from the Playgroup and people from other Leith Churches; some of you involved your neighbours and friends too. Our Brownie pack worked together in their Sixes with the aim of having one box from each Six – in fact they had brought in enough items for seven boxes and a whole bag of extra bits and pieces which will go down to the warehouse to be used to fill up other boxes. It was good to see some of the Brownies along at our service bringing their boxes forward. In past 6 years you have given well over 1000 boxes (1189 to be precise!) to the children of Eastern Europe. Around 10,000 boxes will leave at the beginning of December, just from the warehouse in East Lothian, to make the overland trip to Belarus. Think of all the children for whom this will mean so much. We really will have put a smile on so many faces – thank you and well done! Joanne Baird
